Hinurewa is an experienced Māori language educator, researcher and consultant currently based in Auckland. She is a raukura of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Mana Tamariki and has over a decade of experience teaching in kura kaupapa Māori. She also has extensive governance experience on various boards, providing strategic advice from an inherently Māori perspective.

Hinurewa is a strong advocate for te reo Māori. This is reflected in her current role as Director of Reo at Whakaata Māori, where she is responsible for the implementation of their Māori language strategy. Her advocacy also drives her ongoing commitment to numerous reo revitalisation initiatives.
